Shirley B. Ostrander, age 79, of Osawatomie, Ks, died January 11, 2016 at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri.

Shirley was born July 10, 1936 at Pittsburg, Kansas. She was the younger of two daughters born to Howard B. and Flossie F. (McMurray) Blackmon. She attended Osawatomie High School.

She was united in marriage to K. R. “Kenny” Ostrander on November 6, 1954. They made their home in Osawatomie and became the parents of two children, Sheryl and Mark.

Shirley was an Avon representative and worked in the bakery department at Willard’s IGA.

She was a good cook and she loved her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter Sheryl Troxel, and grandson Robbie Troxel.

She is survived by her son Mark and his wife Stephanie of Lenexa; her son-in-law Dave Troxel of Osawatomie; her sister Joe Ann Gray (Leo) of Paola; six grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.

Private inurnment at a later date.

Memorial contributions are to Kansas City Hospice or charity of choice.
