Terry Jerome Hanlin, 76 years young, of Osawatomie, Kansas, passed away on April 1, 2015, at Life Care Center in Osawatomie.

Terry was born June 6, 1938, in Osawatomie, KS, to Ivan "Bud" Hanlin and Pauline Bolling Hanlin. He lived in Scott City, Kansas as a child as his father was a railroader. He graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1956 and joined the Navy later that year. He served on the Dehaven which was a destroyer for 3 years, 11 months, and 27 days and was thrilled to return home.

Terry worked for Ross Truck Line for 6 years and then went to work for Rodeway Truck Lines. He drove a truck there for 32 years and retired in 1995.

Terry married Carol Courter on March 27, 1981, in Miami, Oklahoma. They made their home in Osawatomie.

Terry is a 32nd degree Mason and belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star.

Terry and Carol enjoyed several cruises together and flying on vacations to the Caribbean for time in the sun. Terry also loved to fish when he was able and liked to water ski. He spent many hours "puttering" in his garage, refinishing and rebuilding old radios. In later years, Terry enjoyed sitting on his front porch watching the goings on and wondering where all the traffic was going to. He also thoroughly enjoyed being the official greeter of the quilt shop that Carol owns on their property. His pride and joy was his golf cart which he loved to drive all over town and to the O-Zone. He will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by both his parents.

He is survived by his wife Carol of the home.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
