Sharon Lynn Phifer, age 68, of Paola, Kansas, formerly of Osawatomie, died Friday, April 24, 2015 at North Point Skilled Nursing in Paola.

Sharon was the younger of two children born to Emery and Jean (McDowell) King on November 11, 1946 at Paola, Kansas. She grew up in Osawatomie and attended Osawatomie schools graduating from the Osawatomie High School in 1964.

She was married in March of 1967 to Charles Phifer at Osawatomie. They made their home in Osawatomie. Sharon and Charles had a son who was stillborn in 1975. Their two daughters, Kim and Kathy, were born in 1967 and 1977. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1988.

Sharon worked at the Osawatomie State Hospital for approximately 15 years. She worked in the laundry department. She then worked as a certified nurse's aide at Life Care Center in Osawatomie for 22 years.

She was a member of the Osawatomie First Baptist Church.

Sharon enjoyed reading, sewing, playing cards, playing board games, and working word search puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her son Mark Alan and her parents.

She is survived by her two daughters Kim (Ian) Stringham and Kathy (Terry) Upshaw; two grandchildren Hailey and Ethan Upshaw; her brother Ronald (Janice) King all of Osawatomie; other relatives and friends.
