PHYLLIS JOAN MUELLER, 83, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, November 4, 2015.

Phyllis Joan was born September 4, 1932 to Clarence and Catherine (Macklin) Gunn in Hoisington, Kansas. The Gunns moved with the railroad and Clarence‘s last move landed the family in Osawatomie. Joan graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1950. That same year, she married Eugene Mueller and moved to the farm in the Block Community to raise their five children.

In addition to tending to the farm and caring for the family, Joan also sold Avon and managed Mode O’Day store in Osawatomie in the mid 1980s. Joan was active in her Church’s Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Miami County Council of Aging, and was a volunteer for the Miami County Historical Society.

Joan is survived by her children: son Bill (Susan) Mueller, Shelton, Nebraska; daughters Beverly (Frank) Sauerwein, Wichita, Kansas; Betty (John) Hewitt, Paola, Barbara Dillenbeck, Paola; son-in-law Mark Schotte, Winfield, Kansas; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers Glenn and Dale, and daughter Becky Schotte.
