Jack Keith Bruner, age 86, of Paola, Kansas, died April 21, 2016 at Country Club Estates, Paola, Kansas.

Jack was born at Moline, Kansas on March 10, 1930. He was the second of six children born to Dwight Merle and Ruby (Jacot) Bruner. Jack graduated from Sedan, Kansas High School with the Class of 1948.

Jack served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict. He enlisted in 1948 and was honorably discharged in 1952. As Machinist Mate First Class, his ship sailed to Japan, Germany, and the Panama Canal.

Jack then delved into furthering his education, attending Independence Community College, Kansas University, and Emporia State University. He received his teaching degree at Kansas University and his Master's Degree at Emporia State University.

Jack met his future wife while renting a room from her mother. He and Annabelle Clark were united in marriage on May 29, 1955 at Independence, Kansas. They made their home in Independence, Kansas and became the parents of five children.

They moved to Paola, Kansas in 1960. At that time, Jack taught math, chemistry, physics, and general science at Paola High School. In 1968, his teaching career made a change of venue and he taught the same courses at Osawatomie High School until 1990. From 1990 until 2005, Jack taught college algebra and chemistry for Fort Scott Community College at their Paola Campus.

Jack was an outdoorsman. He loved gardening, hunting, and fishing.

He was a member of the Christian Church in Sedan, the VFW, American Legion, Paola Masons, and a life member of North American Hunting Club.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Annabelle who died December 21, 1997, his son Timmy who died in 1964, and a brother Merle Bruner who died in 2015.

He is survived by his four children Gene Bruner (Robin) of Phoenix, Arizona, Lisa Tice (Casey) of Dumas, Texas, Neil Bruner (Julie) of Centerville, Indiana, and Julie Bruner of Paola; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; his siblings Peggy McAfee of Sedan, KS, Bill Bruner of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Jim Bruner of Sedan, KS, and Karen Peppard of Corpus Christi, Texas; many other relatives and friends.
