Shirley June Rousselot Kitto went to her Lord June 3, 2016 in Paola, Kansas.

Shirley was born January 27, 1931 in Edgerton, Kansas to Mary Belle Rousselot Bledsoe who was married to her step-father Joseph R. Coffey. She was the oldest of ten children. She graduated in 1949 from Edgerton High School.

Her career included the restaurant business in Florida and the convenience store business in the Kansas City area. She owned several businesses; Mimi's Restaurant in Tampa, Florida, The Country House Restaurant in Paola, and the Fontana Bar in Fontana. Her mother Mary Belle, sister Mary Lou and other family members were instrumental in their operations.

In 1950, she became an at home wife with Navy veteran Bill LaCroix for five years, living in California and Florida. Then in 1966 she married her best friend Earlwin David (Uncle Chief) Kitto and raised their son Paul Dominic Frenier Kitto. They enjoyed each other for 17 years.

Aunt Shirley, as she was known by everyone who knew her, was an independent and fun-loving Christian soul. Generous to a fault, she loved and gave of herself to anyone she thought was in need. A hardworking woman, she loved to laugh, tell stories and spend time at the casinos. She lived her life to the fullest and looked for the best in everyone and every situation.

She was preceded in death by both parents, five sisters, and three brothers.

She leaves behind her son Paul, one brother John Fredrick (Fred) Coffey and his wife Patricia, numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and other people who were touched by her during her life.

She will be missed by all.

The family would like to thank the Catholic Community Hospice services and team members Michelle DeVault, RN; Janette Dickerson, LPN; Denise Briscoe, CNA; and Suzanne Boehm, social worker.

The attendance to Aunt Shirley's every need with their kind, tender and loving consideration was a blessing to her family and friends during her final days on earth.

Contributions in memory of Shirley can be made to Catholic Community Hospice Services and can be sent in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 605 O'Neal Ave., Osawatomie, KS, 66064.
